Trauma Treatment
When people experience trauma, they are often left in a state of panic, depression, hopelessness, anxiety, or fear. These are natural responses to events that can fragment a person’s worldview and sense of security, leaving them feeling helpless and disempowered, struggling to connect with others.
Trauma Treatment starts from the premise that the coping mechanisms used at the time of the trauma, while necessary for survival then, become maladaptive as time goes by, leaving the trauma survivor stuck in patterns of behavior that can be detrimental to their current situation. I offer treatment utilizing narrative techniques and EMDR to help the survivor of trauma process their experience safely, enabling them to move forward, creating new healthy patterns of being and relating to others. I specialize working with adults who have suffered complex trauma, including childhood sexual abuse, and/or sexual trauma in adulthood, and deal with issues related to post traumatic stress, traumatic attachment, family of origin issues, depression, anxiety, shame, guilt, and anger. |
